Group Retreats

A few days away from phone, work and errands, with practice at the centre of the day. Retreats shaped Dr. Satamgati's own path, from the Shaolin Temple to the monasteries of Tibet. Now he leads them for others.

What happens on a retreat?

A retreat gives several days to one practice, away from phone calls and daily obligations. The programme is set for each retreat and usually combines guided practice, teaching and time for rest.

A typical retreat day includes:

Why go on a retreat?

What changes when you step away

At home, practice has to fit around work, family and tiredness. On a retreat it becomes the centre of the day, and many people notice changes they never felt at home. People come to:

Rest
Deepen practice
Reset habits
Learn the basics
Quiet the mind
Recover energy
Meet others
Inner work

Retreats shaped Dr. Satamgati’s own path: at the Shaolin Temple, and during two years in the monasteries of China, Nepal, India and Tibet, from 2003 to 2005. He leads retreats so others can have a few days of the same quiet.

Benefits of group practice

Practising with others for several days in one place makes it easier to stay with the method and to ask questions as they come up.

No commute and no errands. The day is arranged around practice and rest.

Guidance on the spot

Dr. Satamgati corrects posture and technique during practice, while you are doing the exercise.

Practising together

Standing and meditating in a group helps many people practise longer than they would alone.
